What education did you have before you took the Visual Effects for Film and Television course?

Prior to getting into the Visual Effect ls for Film and Television program, I had done a Bachelor of Art in Communications, Media, and Film at the University of Windsor. After receiving my B.A., I enrolled in a 3D Animation and Character design graduate certificate program at Fanshawe College.

Tell us a bit about your experience at the college.

My experience at Seneca College was great, definitely the best school program I have taken so far. The faculty consisted of real established professionals in the field and experts at what they did. To me, school is a playground where you can experiment and discover what you like. The faculty at Seneca was really open to any ideas the students came up with and helped me achieve what I wanted.

How do you use the education you got at Seneca in your job today?

Today I work as an FX artist at a Visual Effects studio in Toronto. I use pretty much everything I learned at Seneca at my job. Prior to attending Seneca College, I had no experience with Houdini or Nuke, and a year later I am working full time using Houdini and Nuke with just the knowledge I learned from school.

What advice would you give potential students who are thinking of taking the course?

My advice to future students is to just have fun with it. If you love what you do then you will eventually be great at it. Network as much as you can during the program because the people you meet will eventually be your employers and colleagues.
